The Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Medical Coding program recently kicked off a four-part educational series called “Level Up” offering continuing education seminars and workshops for healthcare professionals that are free and open to healthcare workers.

Through the Health Resources & Services Administration’s (HRSA) Delta Region Rural Health Workforce Training Program, those currently employed within the revenue cycle at healthcare facilities in the following counties are eligible for free trainings, workshops, and seminars:

  • Weakly
  • Henry
  • Gibson
  • Carroll
  • Benton
  • Haywood
  • Madison
  • Henderson
  • Decatur
  • Chester
  • Hardin
  • McNairy
  • Hardeman

“No matter the type of facility, if you are involved in the revenue cycle in healthcare, these trainings are for you,” said Level Up Grant Director, Chrystal Taylor. “We are happy to offer these at no-cost so that West Tennesseans in the healthcare field can gain valuable skills to improve in their current roles, and also allow them to potentially move up within their organizations through these trainings.”

The current schedule for trainings is:

  • What is Revenue Cycle Management in Healthcare? Intermediate Level (three-hour seminar) - Aug. 17, 9 a.m. - Noon
  • Denial Management Process in Healthcare, Advanced Level (four-hour workshop) - Aug. 24, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Payer Specific Denials, Advanced Level (four-hour workshop) - TBD

In addition to these seminars, Level Up training is also being offered to healthcare facilities looking to upskill their current staff to improve efficiencies, increase revenue cycle knowledge, and provide tailored training specific to the department and facility.

Stipends are available to participants for these trainings and lunches are provided for trainings four hours or longer.
